Northwestern’s Faculty Senate passed a resolution last week encouraging professors to include information about mental and physical health in their syllabi. First reported by the Daily Northwestern, the statement recommends language such as, “If you find yourself struggling with your mental or physical health this quarter, please feel free to approach me. I try to be flexible and accommodating.”

RAP-Line began in 1990 as a calling service and added letter writing as an additional peer support service in 1996. Now, RAP-Line will make Penn the third college campus nationwide — after Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where the service originated, and University of Chicago — to offer the Lean On Me text message service.

President and 1968 Wharton graduate Donald Trump’s billionaire nominee for the typically uncontroversial secretary of education position, Betsy DeVos, has faced substantial scrutiny.

The Women’s March on Philadelphia was expected to have around 20,000 people. According to the Communications Director for Jim Kenney, almost 50,000 people showed up.

Recruitment chair of Chi Omega and Nursing junior Jordan Lilley said she felt it was unfair that one of the reasons given to the sorority chapters for the rescheduling of their recruitment process was that sorority rush events conflicted with fraternity rush events.

College Republicans President and Wharton junior Sean Egan explained that Friday will be a good day for the club even though many of its members were skeptical of Trump throughout the election.

Mental health assistance, casual interactions take center stage

“Our approach is going to be one in which how can we make sure that students are aware of Penn,” Dean of Admissions Eric Furda said. “How can we work with organizations that are supporting students ... what can we learn overall about students transitioning into college?”

“Where I come from there’s nothing like rush. There’s nothing like Greek life or sororities and fraternities. It was new to some extent, I didn’t get what the point of it was,” Engineering freshman Zena Kipkenda said. “When it comes to public colleges, joining clubs in Kenya is up to an individual.”

In response to student concern over access to groceries, FRES said the following in an email statement: “Penn will work with the surrounding community to provide some alternative convenience/access to products and services during the transition to minimize disruption to the University and neighborhood customers.”
