In high school, all it takes is seven innings. The eight freshmen on the Penn softball team are learning that to be successful in college, it takes 14. At 1 p.m. tomorrow, the Quakers will take the field for the first of two contests. Like all game days this season, Penn will have to play a doubleheader.

ST. LOUIS - Coming into the NCAA Championships, Penn wrestling coach Zeke Jones knew that for his team to earn high All-American honors, each wrestler would have to start fast out of the gate. But with one day down at the tournament, Penn has had trouble doing so.

UA isn't afraid of political issues To the Editor: Regarding "Stepping up to the soapbox" (3/20/08), the Undergraduate Assembly shouldn't shy away from politically charged issues that directly affect Penn students, and I absolutely agree with Adam Goodman.

The New York Times, reporting on the same study last week, noted that this trend could cause most universities to receive fewer applications and thus suffer from less selectivity among applicants.

Tracy McIntosh, the former Penn neurology professor who was resentenced last month for a 2002 sexual assault, is now challenging his new sentence. Joel Trigiani, McIntosh's lawyer, had stated an intent to appeal the new sentence of 3 « to seven years in prison and he followed through with that appeal on March 20.

Yesterday a judge ordered the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania to provide crucial evidence to lawyers for the estate of Tony Grier, the man who died after receiving a pair of cancerous lungs at HUP two years ago. Pennsylvania Eastern District Court judge Barclay Surrick told HUP's defense attorneys to send the plaintiff films of X-rays.

There are 28 new sheriffs in town. Drexel University has recently begun the process of building a campus police department, which will be similar to Penn Police. This decision comes at a time when the university is growing and the needs of the community are changing, officials said.
