In January 2021, 2013 Engineering graduate Rick Krajewski will take office to represent Philadelphia’s 188th district, which encompasses Penn’s campus in University City. 

The undergraduate students, who live all around the world, are spending the summer away from their homes amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. 

The initiative, called Equilibria, aims to connect students from across the country when they are separated from each other. 

For too long, the DP has failed to lift up the voices of Black students, and make sure their unique experiences and perspectives are heard and valued. We have also failed to make sure our staff represents the diversity of the student body at Penn. With such a large platform on campus, we must do better. 

As Philadelphia reckons with its own racist statues of Christopher Columbus and Frank Rizzo, now is the time for Penn to do the same on its own campus.

Why should we care? As students lucky enough to attend a prestigious university as Penn, we have the power and resources to make the city government listen to us.

In recent weeks, Black and Mobile has seen an increase in orders as the company finds itself at the intersection of two areas — delivery services and Black-owned businesses — gaining national attention.

The newly-formed YDSA chapter aims to engage members of the Penn community in activism for Democratic Socialist policies, such as providing universal single-payer healthcare, canceling nationwide student debt, and providing tuition-free undergraduate public education.

The email encourages the Penn community to take the day off of regular work on Friday and use it to consider “how we can learn from our past to chart a more equitable path forward." 

Following the 5-4 ruling, Penn President Amy Gutmann released a statement, writing she was “enormously pleased” by the decision, calling it a “great victory for human rights and the future of America.”

The Emergency Housing Protection Act is a package of bills intended to provide relief to renters affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The decision comes after a recommendation from the NCAA and a mandate from the Ivy League.

Members of UMOJA said they were disappointed after a meeting with administration, in which the group also demanded a COVID-19 response fund for students and SAC funding for local non-profits.
