Penn is in the process of notifying individuals whose personal information was compromised by the incident, according to a University spokesperson.
In a response to the suit, Penn wrote that it has “cooperated extensively with the EEOC, providing over 100 documents, totaling nearly 900 pages.”
The document was originally sent to Penn on Oct. 1 and laid forth guidelines that would govern the University’s admissions, pricing, and hiring practices.
In a statement to the DP, one of the students featured in the video wrote that the University, following its investigation, concluded he did not use racial slurs. He added that he was not issued any disciplinary measures.
A University spokesperson wrote to The Daily Pennsylvanian that the investigation has been referred to law enforcement and the FBI as Penn investigates a “breach of data of select information systems.”
The emails — which appeared to be sent from a variety of individuals linked with Penn GSE — were addressed to the Penn community and contained criticisms of the University’s security practices and institutional purpose.
Also, the Coalition of Workers at Penn met last week to discuss the progress of unions across campus.
The messages marked a higher level of transparency with the University's stakeholders in comparison to Penn's prior dealings with the government — including its July resolution with the Department of Education.
The notice follows the school’s February decision to reduce admissions by one-third amid uncertainty over federal funding.
