Penn SPAC, a new student organization, launched this semester to inform students about a business venture rising in popularity: special purpose acquisition companies.

Students criticize the change, saying that a lot of the content is specific to engineering fields and the videos are difficult to follow. The Math department, however, will not revert Math 104 to its old curriculum. 

Kirk is a renowned writer and professor in Penn’s creative writing department where he teaches ENGL 135, "Narrative Nonfiction: The Art of Experience."

The event featured a conversation between Boyle, a senior fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, and Perry World House Director and Penn political science professor Michael Horowitz.

Policy recommendations will cover six topics: national security; trade and competitiveness; technology; human rights, law and democracy; climate and environment; and research, education, and academic freedom.

The admissions office decided back in March that their fall programming – like tours and information sessions, as well as traveling to speak at high schools – would be virtual, five months before the University went fully online.

The gift will expand the Toll Public Interest Scholars and Fellows Program, doubling the number of public interest graduates within the next decade through full and partial tuition scholarships.

SAC Chair and College junior Grayson Peters said SAC has received an influx of requests from clubs this semester to transfer funds that would have gone toward in-person activities to cover other expenses for the virtual semester.

Penn administrators wrote that the decision to modify spring break was made in an effort to "discourage travel during the pandemic," similar to the reason they canceled fall break this semester. But students want more time off during the spring semester to recover from a heavy courseload.

Through StudyRev, which fully launched this semester, tutees can request help when they need it  and tutors can work as their schedule permits.

Lecturer Susan Haas died of a heart attack on Sept. 25, and lecturer Emile Bruneau, who served as director of Annenberg’s Peace and Conflict Neuroscience Lab, died of brain cancer on Sept. 29.

Penn President Amy Gutmann, Provost Wendell Pritchett, and Executive Vice President Craig Carnaroli sent an email to the Penn community announcing a delayed semester start and a shortened spring break, but did not provide any concrete information about whether students will be allowed back on campus.

Several students and professors stressed their frustration with candidates’ inability to achieve productive discussion, and cited Trump’s refusal to condemn white supremacy as one of the night's most shocking sentiments.
