While some may follow Penn’s lead and assume that since both contain the word “Africa” they must be similar enough to simply be merged into one, this thinking is unfounded and wrong. This oversimplified reasoning serves as yet another example of the suppression and the overgeneralization of black voices in the world, and within our own University.

Brown softball coach Katie Flynn has been accused of bullying players, leading to poor player retention, according to the Brown Daily Herald. It wasn't a great week for Penn's next-door neighbor. Drexel sent out 495 congratulations emails to students it had rejected, when the University meant to send the emails only as a follow-up to accepted students. The nearly 500 students had been either rejected or had sent incomplete applications, according to the Associated Press.

This new incident won't be helping fraternities in the public eye. The University of Florida chapter of Zeta Beta Tau is currently being investigated for spitting on veterans and urinating on American flags.




Freshman Abby Hong put up a strong performance on distance night for Penn.

The Penn Relays have a way of sneaking up on the Penn community as a whole, and this year was no different. Tucked between Spring Fling and final exams, it’s understandable; this is an especially busy time of year for students on campus.

Earlier this year, a group of Stanford students wrote a widely publicized article that encouraged other college students nationwide to request to see their admissions files through the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.




When it comes to “making it” at Penn, I hope everyone finds something that can never be taken away, cannot be lost, cannot be outdated, and cannot be changed by the obstacles life will throw at you.
