Texas' state legislature is passing a law to allow concealed handguns in the classroom. The campus-carry bill, which would allow students and faculty to have concealed handguns all around state campuses, is expected to be signed into law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott and would take effect starting in August 2016.  Texas would become the eighth state to officially allow concealed handguns on campus.


Throughout the last school year, there has been plenty said about Paul Nungresser, Emma Sulkowicz and her performance art of carrying a mattress throughout Columbia's campus. And all of that came to a head at Columbia's graduation. Sulkowicz did as she said she would last September, bringing the mattress across the stage at graduation.

This week, Penn baseball could see some of its alumni drafted for the first time in three years. Graduated senior catcher Austin Bossart, classmate Ronnie Glenn, and others could hear their name called during next week’s MLB first-year player draft, which takes place from Monday, June 8, to Wednesday, June 10th.

A Penn State fraternity has been shut down for the next three years shortly after a secret fraternity Facebook page was found with photos of nude and semi-nude women. The University's Interfraternity Council suggested a milder punishment for Kappa Delta Rho according to an AP report.

Environmental issues feel abstract and distant in Philadelphia, experienced in their extremes only through news items and stories, through conversations in science and political science classes that end at the close of a lecture and through brief bouts of social activism like the campus referendum for fossil fuel divestment. But in California they have become unavoidable as the drought has progressively worsened, coloring the landscape and creeping into residents’ daily routines.
