It was a fitting end to a career: a huge win over Princeton to clinch the Ivy League title, followed by the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2003-2004.Most players would decide to hang up their shoes after such a successful career, but Alyssa Baron has never been most players.

After a colorful Penn baseball career and an additional season as a Blue Devil, 2013 graduate Ryan Deitrich’s big league dreams are still alive and well.After a successful campaign in his final year of eligibility at Duke as a redshirt senior this spring, the slugger was signed by the Evansville Otters, a professional minor league club that plays in the independent Frontier League.


The Penn Glee Club took their talents international as they performed around the world from Qatar to Tanzania to Dubai. 

Throughout their two-week international tour, the Penn Glee Club kept a daily blog of their experiences. Their destinations included Qatar, Tanzania and Dubai.






1990 Penn Law graduate Antonio Ponvert won a client $41.75 million dollars after a young girl contracted encephalitis in China on a class trip and lost her ability to speak.

Ponvert only represents plaintiffs, individuals who have been hurt in some way, so he does not represent any corporations or governmental bodies. He said a common theme among his cases is “representing people who have been victimized in some way by someone who was in in a position of power over them.”

Philadelphia Police are investigating a robbery that occurred this morning at the Wawa on the corner of 38th and Spruce Streets. The suspect entered the Wawa around 4:45 a.m.

Board Chair David L. Cohen recognized the detrimental health effects of tobacco, but said that it does not constitute a “moral evil.” According to Penn’s divestment policy, areas being considered for divestment must qualify as “a moral evil implicating a core University value that is creating a substantial social injury.” Cohen also stressed that the Trustees are obligated to the growth and protection of the University’s endowment.




On Monday at the White House Summit on Working Families, former University President and current President of the Rockefeller Foundation Judith Rodin shed light on the payment gap between male and female faculty members after she was asked if women always know and communicate their value.“When I was offered the Presidency of Penn...I think the board believed that I would and should feel extremely grateful,” Rodin said. “They offered me a salary and I went home overnight and started to get really angry.”
