"And for the life of me, I don't understand why something like that should be controversial or frightening or pose security threats."
The protestors continued chanting outside the Inn for about 20 minutes after the meeting was shut down.
The meeting ended about 20 minutes early after student protesters drowned out the board members for more than half an hour.
The renaming was approved by the Board of Trustees on Friday, the Board of Trustees Chair David Cohen and Penn President Amy Gutmann wrote in an email sent to all students.
“Social Impacts of Post-Socialist Transition and Policies for the Future” is designed to explore the histories of post-Socialist Eastern Europe from both academic and policy perspectives.
