From June 7-10, four athletes from Penn women's track & field competed on the biggest stage that collegiate running has to offer. The women traveled across the country to the University of Oregon to represent the Quakers in the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. 

With a balancing act like no other, it becomes exceedingly difficult for student-athletes at Penn to perform well without forgoing their physical and mental health.

The evacuation occurs a few weeks after the State Department disclosed on May 23 that a U.S. government employee stationed in Guangzhou reported experiencing "vague, but abnormal, sensations of sound and pressure," NPR reported.

The abrupt White House announcement came after nearly the entire team said they intended to boycott the celebration that was scheduled to take place the next day. 

Last Thursday, a flyer criticizing the limited availability of restrooms for women, trans, and nonbinary individuals in DRL was spotted on the 2C10 men's restroom.

This year’s event was the ninth edition of the tournament, the last eight of which have been contested in the Philly area. The championship was contested in the rugby sevens format, with six pools of four teams each on the men’s side and four pools of four teams each on the women’s side.

The CAPS website states that there are no Thursday evening hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. between May 17 and Aug. 23 and no Saturday hours between May 5 and Sep. 1. 

The Vagelos Challenge Award, which was created in 2005, recognizes students who have excelled in advanced science coursework and who are submatriculating in chemistry or physics. 

In an emailed statement, Penn Law announced the launch of a pilot program that aimed to strengthen the school’s “cross-disciplinary curriculum” by accepting two examinations that are mainly taken by business students.

The new signs were put up just four days after a note was posted on the 2C10 men's restroom criticizing the limited availability of restrooms for women, trans and nonbinary individuals.

Pedrotty, who was from Cockeysville, Maryland, majored in Biology with a minor in Anthropology at Penn, before becoming a PhD student studying molecular cancer biology at Duke University.

“There is only one working STALL accessible to women on this floor (not just 1 restroom, but only 1 stall),” the flyer said. “There are no gender-neutral bathrooms at all, but there are three separate men’s RESTROOMS — that’s ridiculous.” 

Tuition for summer classes varies across the different schools, from $4,224 for courses in the College to $5,550 for those in Wharton. 

The lightweight and heavyweight rowing teams wrapped up their seasons on June 1-3 at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association National Championship. The regatta was held on Mercer Lake in New Jersey, where high winds and rough conditions caused many of the days races to be cancelled. Although the regatta was shortened, it capped off a successful season for both of Penn men’s rowing teams.
