If a college mishandles sexual assault in the future, the federal government may come cracking down. A group of senators proposed legislation last week that would raise fines on colleges that mishandle sexual assault accusations while also implementing more requirement for transparency.

An offensive party at the University of Texas caused an uproar on campus but will go unpunished by the University. The fraternity Phi Gamma Delta threw a "border patrol" themed party with students showing up in sombreros and ponchos.

A national survey of Jewish students shows a high number of students experiencing anti-Semitism in some form on campus. The National Demographic Survey of American Jewish College Students was conducted as an online survey and was taken by 1,157 students.

Students at Stanford are tackling the question of what the college experience will look like in the 22nd century.  As part of a thought experiment in 2013, student from the Institute of Design at Stanford thought of four ways in which institutes of higher education will look like in the future.  One idea the students came up with is changing the time frame from four years of education to six years, which students would be able to use at any point during their lifetimes — that is, they can attend school for four years, leave to work, then return for their two final years at any point in they wanted.

Harvard and Penn aren't the only schools to announce their Commencement speakers. George Washington revealed that Apple CEO Tim Cook will give the address at the University's Commencement on May 17 while Winston Salem State announced the Grammy and Oscar-winning rapper Common will speak at their graduation on May 15. Cook, who has been Apple's CEO since 2011, holds the distinction of being the first openly gay CEO of a Fortune 500 company, coming out last October.  “I know our graduating students will be inspired and enlightened by his reflections on the lessons he has garnered from his distinguished career as a highly effective leader at the forefront of technological innovation," George Washington President Steven Knapp said in a press release.
