This has been a tough week for everyone. Laden with disappointment, grief, and shock, I am in just as much disbelief as all of the other folks out there today.

This past week has been one of the most difficult weeks of my life. Between the results of the election, the lives of members of the black freshman community being threatened, along with countless other acts of racism, islamophobia, homophobia, and xenophobia, I’m sad about the state of America.

This past week has objectively been full of intense emotional and mental turmoil. I don’t think I’ve ever seen my newsfeed so consistently full of such long statuses written by so many people.

Trump’s election represented a great blow to the forces of progress in America, as the American electorate chose a politics of short-sighted, reactionary hatred. But it also represents a great opportunity.

It was a big week for Penn sports, with three athletes receiving individual awards.

It’s easy to take food for granted. Most Penn students either have a dining plan or can afford to purchase food from one of the numerous restaurants or grocery stores around campus.

Philadelphia will likely see between 25 and 30 inches of snow this winter season.

"The conference went really well. Considering all that's happened in the past week, it was great to have the support of black students across the Ivy League," Wharton junior Nanette Elufa said.

The Provost’s Summer Mentor Program and Science Technology Engineering, Mathematics Mentoring Program have helped Philadelphia students navigate the college-application process, which leads some of them back to Locust Walk.

Wharton professor J. Scott Armstrong and political science professor Marc Meredith spoke to The Daily Pennsylvanian this week about the failure of polling. 

“There will be times when I disagree with Donald Trump, and when I disagree I will say so," Toomey said. 

Students at Texas State University awoke to fliers depicting men in camouflage, wielding guns and an American flags in men’s bathrooms.

Several students left the polls disappointed by not being able to vote on Election Day.

What love means “We can not be free until they are free”  There is no simple explanation — and therefore no simple solution — for the tragedy that is a Donald Trump presidency.
