In today’s political environment, faculty members argued, isolated acts of violence can reverberate far beyond those directly involved — and foster distrust in public institutions while deepening polarization.

The increased spending comes after the University’s federal funding — which amounts to over $1 billion annually — was threatened several times by the Trump administration this past year.  

“We need to focus on public health measures, meaning gun control laws, and having more care available for schools and children,” Kettl said in an interview with The Daily Pennsylvanian.

The ruling does not prevent previously proposed fare increases, but bars the agency from implementing any further cuts.

At Penn, the changes could affect the over 12,000 Penn employees and hundreds of students who rely on public transportation.
