After three weeks of public campaigning, the workers behind the Justice on the Menu campaign are making a decisive push towards unionizing. Today the Teamsters Union announced that 15 full-time employees at Hillel’s Falk Dining Commons will be voting on possible representation.


Administrators agree that while there is still much progress to be made, their efforts to increase the number of underrepresented minority graduate students across the University have been successful.

Eve Troutt Powell

History and Africana Studies professor Eve Troutt Powell will serve as the next associate dean for graduate studies in the School of Arts and Sciences, the University announced Monday.

A Senate proposal by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) is one of the first bipartisan deals with momentum in the months following the Newtown, Conn., shooting. It would be added as an amendment to a broader gun-control bill and background checks to prevent people with criminal records and serious mental health problems from purchasing guns.

College junior and Undergraduate Assembly representative Nikolai Zapertov resigned, citing disillusionment over the functioning of student government. He will be replaced by College freshman Varun Menon.

On April 12, the Wharton Social Impact and Private Equity and Venture Capitalist clubs announced the team 1DocWay as the winner of the first annual Social Venture Business Plan Competition, which asks students to create a business idea that addresses a global social issue.
