Penn Friends of Israel Presents: Israeli Soldiers' Stories

Last night, two reserve soldiers in the Israel Defense Forces shared their experiences in battle — a subject that drew charged and conflicting responses. The event, titled “Israeli Soldiers’ Stories,” was organized by Penn Friends of Israel, the African American Resource Center and StandWithUs, an organization that engages college students to educate its communities on issues regarding Israel.


Graph Search has taken the “making” out of friend-making, and this instant gratification can’t compete with the rewards of taking the time to really get to know someone. Will there come a day when we can no longer enjoy the process of unearthing our quirky common interests — like quinoa — because Facebook will have already detected them for us?

Alternative Pathways recently received national attention for its take on the Wharton core curriculum. Created last February by the Wharton Undergraduate Division, it offers students different ways to approach the Wharton business fundamentals based on their strengths and weaknesses.

While the Benjamin Franklin Parkway may appear to be nothing more than a congested traffic lane, PennPraxis, the School of Design’s applied research arm, is trying to redefine how Philadelphians view its place in the community.

The Penn men’s tennis team will continue this century-old rivalry Wednesday afternoon at the Levy Pavilion, where it will try to increase its winning record over Navy. The Midshipmen haven’t beaten Penn since 1999.

The Committee on Manufacturer Responsibility will make a recommendation this Spring regarding Penn’s contract with Adidas, which has been accused of not paying severance benefits to former workers of the PT Kizone factory in Indonesia.

The Wharton School announced in October of last year that 2001 graduate Sukanto Tanoto, along with 1960 graduate Alvin V. Shoemaker, was the recipient of the Wharton Dean’s Medal, one of the highest honors presented by Wharton. But Tanoto’s companies are affiliated with rainforest destruction and tax evasion.
