Wright State University in Ohio is apologizing for what students call an "offensive and disrespectful" menu for Black History Month that included fried chicken and collard greens.  Chartwells Higher Education Dining Service, the dining provider for the university, explained that its goal is to "celebrate national events on campus with authentic and traditional cuisine...In no way was the promotion associated with Black History Month meant to be insensitive." A group of students at Wesleyan University were hospitalized after overdosing on Molly at a party last weekend.  Police suspect that the students--10 Wesleyan students and two guests--received a "bad batch of the drug." The students were taken to Middlesex Hospital and Hartford Hospital.

College sophomore Chaz Smith paired up with One Student, a nonprofit organization that looks to raise awareness of sexual assault to produce a video on the importance of gender roles the way conversations on sexual assault are carried out.  In the video, Smith makes analogies to baseball to explain societal ideas about the sexual behavior of men and women.

While Penn got the United State Ambassador to the United Nations for its Commencement speaker, Harvard went local for its speaker. Harvard announced on Monday that the speaker for its 364th Commencement will be former Massachusetts Governor and Harvard graduate Deval Patrick.

The Vision

Whether or not the “No-Loan Policy” is an achievable goal for the University of Pennsylvania at this time, the fact that Penn continues to sell the fabricated existence of the “No-Loan Policy,” while subsequently ignoring the pleas of students who are forced to take out loans, shows a “determined ambivalence” on behalf of both the University and Student Financial Services.

Penn should use this failure as grounds upon which to seek an injunction against the enforcement of these regulations, which mandate a system which is both deeply flawed in theory and in practice has an abominably bad record at delivering justice for students.





Penn football defeats Columbia 21-7

It's official: Al Bagnoli is going to Columbia. After the Columbia Spectator reported on Sunday that Penn football's all-time winningest coach had agreed to take the reins of the Lions' football program, Columbia's athletic department officially confirmed Monday that Bagnoli had been chosen as the Light Blue's next head coach. "Over the past decadeColumbia Athletics has built a new winning tradition, enhancing the collegiate experience for thousands of student-athletes and our campus community," Columbia President Lee C.


“I looked back and I remembered a time in my life between ages 9 to 11 when I was a bit on the antisocial side,” Raine said.

Criminology Department Chair Adrian Raine is a pioneer in neurocriminology, a branch of criminology that explores the application of neuroscience techniques in understanding crime and violence.




At Penn Alexander School, Graduate School of Education professor Yasmin Kafai developed a middle school-level coding course to engage students in the art of video game design. Kafai's course speaks to a larger trend in advocacy for computer science as a part of formative education.
