Laughter and tears filled the Kelly Writer's House this afternoon as friends and family of College sophomore Blaze Bernstein shared personal stories of the 19-year-old Penn student. 

Yagoda visited the Writers House as a part of an ongoing speaker series funded by a donation from 1962 College graduate Maury Povich.

The conference, which includes students from all eight Ivy League institutions, will feature over 350 attendees, 275 of whom will be staying on Penn's campus over the weekend.

The Glee Club is working with Penn KDSAP, or Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program, to help fund free health screenings in medically-underserved communities in Philadelphia.

“Blaze wouldn’t want us to stop because of him. He was very thoughtful,” Penn Appétit Culinary Director and College sophomore Jennifer Higa said.

While the city has yet to release official data on the crowd size, estimates suggest at least 3 million people braved the wind chills to catch a glimpse of the winning team. 

The club aims to help and train students to build a dog-raising community for the non-profit organization Canine Companion Independence.

The event was sponsored by the 2018 Public Policy Case Competition, which is challenging participants to design a government policy or program to prevent opioid use disorder.

“When you see those photos of the quad filled with people, and people jumping off the stage, and having fun, like that hasn’t actually happened since like five or six years ago," DaSilva said.

To gauge reactions across campus and Philadelphia, The Daily Pennsylvanian dispatched reporters across the city to see how fans are responding. 

This change breaks a 45-year-old precedent of Spring Fling taking place in the Quad and shortens the festivities to a single day in Penn Park instead of two. 

Claire Klieger, the senior associate director at Career Services, said that Career Services will continue its efforts to serve FGLI students.
