A crop of new professors will join the School of Arts and Sciences for the academic year. The school has appointed 22 new members to its faculty across several departments.New professors in the Earth and Environmental Science Department include associate David Goldsby, assistant Lauren Sallan and Reto Gieré, who joins Penn from Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg in Germany.

Scientists have observed that drinking a cup of coffee right before taking a 20 minute nap is more effective in raising alertness than drinking coffee or taking a nap independent of the other."Interestingly, there's even some evidence that caffeine naps can help people go for relatively long periods without proper sleep," Vox's Joseph Stromberg wrote.In April, Arianna Huffington spoke at Penn, warning students not to deprive themselves of sleep. While taking twenty minute naps throughout the day isn't the solution, an added cup of coffee could certainly help productivity for the hours when you are asleep.Read more about coffee naps at Vox...
