The new law school building Golkin Hall will open on Jan. 9, according to Facilities and Real Estate Services. The $33.6-million building will contain classrooms, faculty office space, an auditorium and a moot courtroom.

Monica Kwok, who founded her own clothing line in the fall, will be launching a video game company called Playzon Interactive next year. Although she has not yet secured outside funding for the venture, she estimates the company may be worth around $20 million.

Wednesday night, students came together for a discussion on issues facing the black community hosted by Penn’s chapter of the NAACP and the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. The talk centered on the concept of the “talented tenth,” a term meant to describe African-Americans who become leaders.

A student group may be formed by March that will serve as a forum for the discussion of the representation of different socioeconomic classes at Penn. Data on the 2008-09 academic year showed that Penn placed below peer schools with respect to its proportion of low-income students.

On Wednesday, the Office of Nursing Research hosted a research colloquium on intellectual property with about 20 staff members and faculty. Jennifer Langenberger, director of Intellectual Property at the Center for Technology Transfer, discussed the importance of intellectual property and its pertinence to researchers in the Penn community.
