College sophomore Shoshana Rosenthal enjoys many subjects at Penn. But this blessing became a bane when she realized she had to pick one for a major. "I like a lot of things, and I got overwhelmed [when deciding] what to study," she said. Like her sophomore peers, Rosenthal must declare a major to be eligible for advanced registration for the next semester, which begins today.

Sophomore Garvey Heiderman backed down his defender around the right side of Yale's goal, turned back to his left and ripped a shot past George Carafides late in the second overtime, as Penn hung on to beat the Elis, 10-9. Heiderman's goal saved a second-half collapse by the Quakers, who led 7-4 at halftime.

The government wants to curb underage drinking, but Penn says it's already doing everything it wants. The U.S. Surgeon General's office released a Call to Action report last week, which highlights the threat that underage drinking poses to the country. The report includes a section devoted to measures that universities should consider to curb underage drinking.

Aggies overcome Sosa for razor-thin win

LEXINGTON, Ky., March 17 - On Thursday, Acie Law and Texas A&M; had to reach back for a little extra to hold off an upset bid from 14th-seeded Penn in the first round. Saturday, it was even tougher for the third-seeded Aggies, playing what essentially was a road game in Rupp Arena against sixth-seeded Louisville.

Penn's LGBT community is painting the campus red with QPenn 2007, Penn's annual celebration of LGBT life at Penn, today. The week-long event is themed "The RED and The Q," a play on Penn's school colors meant to highlight the LGBT community's presence on campus, said College senior Kellyn Goler, the co-chairwoman of QPenn's planning committee.

Josh Wheeling: Penn lacks the Rule of Law

LEXINGTON, Ky. 'Relax, I'm taking over." Texas A&M; guard Acie Law was overheard to say those words Thursday at a critical time. During a media timeout midway through the second half, Penn had come back from a 16-point deficit to finally take a 39-37 lead.

The story for the Penn men's tennis team has become quite familiar: The squad has challenged itself with tough road matches against top-tier teams and repeatedly come up short. The 68th-ranked Quakers experienced a similar result this weekend when they fell at No.

Quakers stroll to the tipping point, then walk away

LEXINGTON, Ky., March 15 - Virginia Commonwealth did it, and the Rams moved on. Penn didn't do it, and the Quakers went home. Penn, in its loss to third-seeded Texas A&M; Thursday, failed to do what so many underdogs fail to do in chalky first rounds. They couldn't capitalize at the tipping point of the upset.

Get it while it's hot: Starting today, 665 copies of The New York Times will be available for free around campus. The distribution is part of an Undergraduate Assembly initiative to bring the newspaper to University students, free of charge. The Times approached the UA in January to see if it was interested in implementing the Pilot Readership Program, said College junior Jason Karsh, the UA's vice chairman of external affairs.

Most gay students would probably agree that coming out is hard. But at Penn, LGBT officials hope to make it a bit easier. This evening, the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Center will kick off Qspace, an online chat room open twice a week to the entire Penn community.

Don't even ask David Cornbrooks what he thinks of Yale. "This is our first Saturday home game, our Ivy opener, and we don't really like Yale, so everyone is excited," said the senior captain Cornbrooks. No one is arguing that the men's lacrosse team is excited about getting the Ivy League season underway.
