A second rape was reported on campus over the weekend, Division of Public Safety officials said yesterday. A female Penn student reported that she had been raped in a residence on the 200 block of S. 39th Street at about 2 a.m. Sunday.

College student Neil Gajare, has been arrested and charged with arson in connection with a fire in Rodin College House early yesterday morning. Police were still processing Gajare's case last night, and it was unclear whether he would be released on bail, according to the Philadelphia Police.

Online Update: Classes still on, but some events canceled due to weather

March 2, 10:54 a.m. With a winter storm warning in effect until 4 p.m. today, classes are still on, but some University events have been canceled. Snow will be heavy at times throughout the day, with a total of about six to 10 inches expected to fall in Philadelphia, according to the National Weather Service.

SHS: Preventative prophylactic treatment no longer necessary

Feb. 18, 1:56 p.m. Preventative antibiotics for meningococcal infection are no longer necessary, the University said in a statement released this afternoon. Three Penn students were hospitalized last week with meningococcal infections, and two others were hospitalized for flu-like symptoms.

After third student with meningitis-like infection, 2,000 get preventative treatment

Updated Feb. 14, 6:54 p.m. About 2,000 people -- a quarter of the undergraduate student body -- have received prophylactic medication so far after a third Penn student was hospitalized for a meningococcal infection, according to University spokeswoman Phyllis Holtzman. The third student is still in critical condition today. Holtzman said no new cases were reported Saturday.

News Brief | Man to face charges after self-inflicted gunshot wound

A 21-year-old man, unaffiliated with the University, will face charges after allegedly lying to police about being the victim of a shooting. Police responded to a report of a "person with a gun" near 40th and Market streets at about 11:35 a.m. yesterday, according to Division of Public Safety spokeswoman Stef Cella.

Engineering sophomore Ryan Smith passed away early Thursday morning following injuries suffered in a fall from the Quadrangle on Saturday. Matt Waller, spokesman for the office of the Vice Provost for University Life, said Smith passed away about 3 a.m. at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

College senior found dead outside nightclub near Festival Pier

The body of Kambili Moukwa, 22-year old College senior, was found outside a nightclub near the Festival Pier by Penn's Landing this afternoon, according to Vice President for Public Safety Maureen Rush. The manner and cause of his death are not yet determined, and an investigation is being conducted by the Philadelphia medical examiner's office, University spokeswoman Lori Doyle said.

As police continue their investigation of Engineering sophomore Ryan Smith's fall from the Quadrangle this weekend, Smith's family and friends say they do not believe the incident was a suicide attempt. University spokeswoman Lori Doyle confirmed yesterday that the student is Ryan Smith, an Engineering sophomore from Rose Valley, Pa.
