Before a cheering crowd of 3,000 to 4,000 supporters Hillary delivered a campaign speech that was decidedly short on mentions of her chief rival, Barack Obama, but big on populist promises to help the working class.

The best lobster in all of Philadelphia

Old Original Bookbinder's has been a Philadelphia institution for over 140 years. It's been in the family of current owner John Taxin since his grandfather raised the money to buy it from it's founders. According to Taxin, his grandpa worked at the grocer across the street and ate lobster at Bookbinder's every day, breakfast and lunch.

Early Decision applications decrease 1.5 percent

The number of early-decision applications to Penn dropped slightly for the second year in a row, admissions officials announced yesterday. Penn received 3,929 early-decision applications this year, a 1.8 percent fall from last year's 4,001 applications. Interim Dean of Admissions Eric Kaplan said he expects early-decision applicants to make up 45 to 48 percent of the class of 2012, which translates to an acceptance rate of about 30 percent.

RIAA targets 16 more students for file sharing

Yet another round of pre-litigation letters from the Recording Industry Association of America hit Penn students last week. The RIAA, which represents the country's major music labels, continued its legal onslaught against college students last week, sending pre-litigation letters to 16 Penn students and 401 other students across the country.

The Division of Public Safety tested its new PennAlert emergency-notification system Thursday, with 95.3 percent of the targeted individuals receiving a notification either by phone, e-mail or text-message. DPS simulated a hazardous materials accident in the Caster Building, located at 3701 Locust Walk, and the new system successfully alerted 429 of the 450 individuals slated to receive a notification.

Congress passes legislation to improve fin. aid

Congress passed a new financial-aid bill Friday that will overhaul federal student-aid programs, including increases in grants and the slashing of interest rates on some student loans. The program, which was approved by both houses of Congress, constitutes a major increase in the Pell Grant Scholarships, raising them from a current maximum of $4,050 to $5,400 by 2012.

The newest campus bagel shop - serving cream cheese, lox and the theory of relativity. Einstein Bros. Bagels, a chain based out of Colorado, will open in the basement of Houston Hall this fall. The store represents the first bagel store on campus since Univerity Bagels closed in 1998.
