As the Quakers and Wildcats squared off at Kentucky's Rupp Arena last week, it was a meeting of two teams that can easily call home one of the most iconic settings in college basketball.

Penn is currently investigating the death of John Carroll University student Matthew Crozier, who suffered fatal head injuries after a fall at the Skulls fraternity house on New Year’s Eve.






Wrestling feasts in South

Penn wrestler Rollie Peterkin took the 133-pound title at the Dec. 29-30 Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C., while the team finished eighth in the 34-team field and recorded two other medalists.

The University received a record-breaking 30,956 applications for the class of 2015, marking an almost 15-percent increase from last year — a change Dean of Admissions Eric Furda attributed largely to Penn’s no-loan financial aid policies.






Fire at 48th, Walnut contained

A large fire broke out in the Windermere Court apartments at 48th and Walnut streets Monday afternoon. The fire sent up a large plume of dark smoke visible from campus.

Penn saw a 14-percent increase in applications for the class of 2015 compared to last year, receiving 30,800 total applications — the highest number in University history.

A 20-year-old resident of Yardley, Pa., died early Wednesday morning after a fatal injury at the Phi Kappa Sigma fraternity house — also known as “Skulls” — on Dec. 31.
