In order to give their products this label, Bon Appétit uses third party verification. Each meat industry, from poultry to beef, is radically different and these third parties act as checks on the inside workings of each specific company that campus food comes from.


With data provided by Penn Student Registration & Financial Services (SRFS) and other resources, The Daily Pennsylvanian Online Graphics Department took a deeper look into financial aid at Penn. These comparisons, infographics and interactive maps provide a transparent look at how Penn’s policies compare with those of other Ivy League schools, how aid packages differ for students from across the country and around the world and how work study functions, to name a few.

“What’s happening in larger numbers this year is that people's symptoms are so bad that they have to be admitted to the hospital or the ER," Director of Campus Health Initiatives at the Student Health Service Ashlee Halbritter said.

Student Health administers flu shots

Some Penn students feel that mental health-related language could be a welcome additon to course syllabi.

Northwestern’s Faculty Senate passed a resolution last week encouraging professors to include information about mental and physical health in their syllabi. First reported by the Daily Northwestern, the statement recommends language such as, “If you find yourself struggling with your mental or physical health this quarter, please feel free to approach me. I try to be flexible and accommodating.”


Reach-a-Peer Helpline is starting Lean on Me, an anonymous 24-hour text messaging service that enables students to get help and support from fellow peers

RAP-Line began in 1990 as a calling service and added letter writing as an additional peer support service in 1996. Now, RAP-Line will make Penn the third college campus nationwide — after Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where the service originated, and University of Chicago — to offer the Lean On Me text message service.

"The District Attorney’s office is going to have to be a bulwark against what appears to be likely excesses and infringements of the federal government. The best example I can give is Donald Trump has pledged to institute bans on Muslims in the country. If he is going to attempt to follow through on those threats, then I think it’s important that the people of Philadelphia understand that there is somebody on their side trying to stop that."
