Following one of the worst natural disasters in Japan’s history, Penn Abroad is asking students who have not begun their semester abroad in the country to return home.

The Student Labor Action Project at Penn wrote a guest column explaining that it is seeking a public statement from Penn to pledge not to reinvest in HEI Hotels and Resorts.

Although recent news has focused on the tragedies in Japan, Environmental Science professor Stephen Phipps believes Japan’s technological responses to both the earthquake and tsunami have minimized their gravity.
