Today, the School of Arts and Sciences Student Technology Advisory Board — in collaboration with PennApps Labs — kicks off a three-day contest that allows students to submit ideas of their ideal mobile applications.

In the U.S., race is a trick question. I don’t know what the solution is, but I do know that our current system isn’t working. If Hispanics hope to gain the political influence to correspond with their growing population, we need to be counted as something distinct.

The $500 grand prize went to Nursing graduate students Antonette Shaw, Mackenzie Mapes and Kristen van der Veen for their startup, Body Wars. The three started the business as a project for a clinical community class.

Gingrich, a former Speaker of the House, received 40.4 percent of the vote, coming in well ahead of former Massachusetts Gov. Romney — once the frontrunner in South Carolina — who garnered just 27.8 percent.
