The Quakers are set to open their season on Saturday at newly renovated Sheerr Pool. 

The Oct. 29 event was co-sponsored by Penn’s creative writing program.

Titled “The Real Face Of Men's Health,” it is a first of its kind study in America, combining original analysis of national health data with new survey data on men’s perceptions on physical and mental health.

The presentation consisted of data collected by the Palestinian-Israeli Pulse Survey on both Palestinian and Israeli opinions surrounding topics such as the Oct. 7 attack.

The event — which featured an audience of over 40 students, faculty, and University City residents — was co-hosted by Wharton school alumni David Roberts and Penn English professor and KWH Faculty Director Al Filreis.

The partnership was announced on Oct. 30 by Penn President Larry Jameson and Pennsylvania’s Chief Transformation Officer Ben Kirshner and aims to guide how Pennsylvania uses artificial intelligence to improve public services and support responsible innovation.

The building restoration — which began in spring 2025 — aims to restore the library to how it looked when it was “first built,” according to Penn’s Facilities and Real Estate Services Executive Director Chris Kern. 

Strunk described the efforts as “research with consequence,” emphasizing that universities must not only produce knowledge but improve the lives of others.
