The 11th annual Black Heritage Week — sponsored by UMOJA, Penn’s black student group — commenced on Sunday night and will end on Feb. 5 with a ten-year anniversary celebration of Makuu, the black cultural center.

Two days could not produce more different results for the wrestling team as they split their weekend matches, with a victory over Bucknell but loss to Hofstra.

SEPTA announced Thursday in a press release that they will borrow $175 million dollars from the nonprofit Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation to implement an electronic fare system that can abolish tokens once and for all.


Locks of Love returns to Penn for its second year

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces for children suffering from medical hair loss. Thus far, more than 50 individuals have pledged to have their hair cut at this year’s event planned for April 3.



Phila. gas explosion not a threat to Penn's gas mains

Philadelphia Gas Works owns all of the city's public natural-gas pipes, including those surrounding Penn’s campus. However, most of Penn’s college houses use very little gas, said Alan Zuino, associate director of Building Operations of Housing and Conference Services.
