Sunday night marked the beginning of the 30th annual Festival Latino, a week-long celebration of Latino culture and heritage. The Latino Coalition launched this year’s festival with a kick-off ceremony of food and spoken word artists known as “Sancocho.”

The sixth annual Penn Microfinance Conference took place Saturday in Huntsman Hall. The conference explored how individuals have transformed their lives through microfinance.

The 99% Declaration group and the Occupy movement are both planning national conventions this summer, but the groups differ in their philosophies toward governmental change.

Brendan McHugh swam for Penn for the last time on Saturday and finished his career with a bang, setting new Penn records and personal bests in the 100 and 200 breaststrokes.

Penn track and field won ten titles against local teams at the Big Five Invitational.

The men’s retained the McCausland Cup by beating George Washington on Saturday.

The Quakers won two out of three games against Lafayette. The third game was a nailbiter with Penn emerging victorious in eleven innings.

Penn gymnastics won its first ECAC title since 2004 at the Palestra Saturday, beating Towson in the teams’ third meeting of the season.

In her debut appearance at the NCAA Championships, freshman Lunoa Wang became Penn’s first women’s fencer to appear in a championship bout since Jane Hall in 1986.

About 2,000 international students are enrolled in Penn’s English Language Programs, a set of intensive programs for people from abroad who want to learn English. During their stay at Penn, students are enrolled in the program but are not officially affiliated with a school at Penn.

The Quakers swept their opening three games of the Penn Spring Invitational, but ultimately lost in the final to Villanova.

The Quakers rebounded from a 3-0 deficit and came back to beat Cornell 11-10.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Quakers seemed poised for an upset over No. 4 Cornell. But thanks to eight unanswered goals, the Big Red came out on top.

The George A. Weiss Pavilion will be receiving the Grand Jury Award from the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia on May 8, along with 16 other restored historic buildings in the Philadelphia area. The restoration and construction of the Music Building also won the award in 2010.

March 26 marks the start of Penn’s annual Greek Week, a seven-day event organized by the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and Multicultural Greek Council to celebrate Greek life on campus.

On Friday, students walked into Vance Hall behind the McNeil Building hoping to learn more about their academic future at the Wharton Undergraduate Concentration Fair held every semester.
