Penn students may soon find themselves pulling out their cell phones instead of their credit cards at cash registers, now that XIPWIRE has launched its service in Philadelphia. The new service will be a competitor with other similar mobile payment options.


On Sunday, the Penn Lions team placed first at the annual Lion Dance competition held at Columbia University. The group learns and performs the lion dance, a traditional Chinese dance in which performers mimic the movements of a lion.

While the Penn track team will go from racing in front of over 54,000 fans at the Penn Relays to a far smaller crowd at Princeton, N.J., the stakes will be much higher at next weekend’s Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.

Penn Haven, a campus homeless advocacy group, hopes to open a house in which Penn students and 18- to 22-year-old “formerly homeless youth or youth that had been through the child welfare system” will live under the same roof, College senior and Penn Haven member Maggie Tishman said.
