Penn wrestling will sport a much different look this year. The most prominent change, of course, is among the coaching ranks, where coach Alex Tirapelle has replaced Rob Eiter after Eiter resigned last May.

When a once-in-a-generation player like senior forward Duke Lacroix enters his final men’s soccer match, people take notice. This Saturday, Penn will need to rally behind the team’s five seniors in their final tilt of 2014 when Harvard comes to town.

So now we know where Penn cross country stands in the Ivy league, but where does that put the program in the larger scheme of things? The Red and Blue will provide an answer to this question this Friday as they look to improve on their results from Ivy Heptagonals two weeks ago at NCAA Regionals.


The Vision

This pervasive notion that black people have to change their bodies is ingrained in our society and makes it difficult to recognize how external forces have been internalized. Whether this self-loathing comes in the form of using makeup or chemicals to brighten skin tones or using heat or treatments to straighten hair, the goal has been to meet a standard of beauty that elevates one group of people and simultaneously demeans another.

People who say they are colorblind miss the point of cultural acceptance. Yes, you should not make assumptions about me or treat me unkindly because of the color of my skin. But you should also not strip me of the rich backgrounds that have shaped my life and made me who I am today.




Penn Student Government will be holding an evening gala consisting of a keynote speech, an Open Forum, and a dessert reception as a part of its State of the School event tonight at the Sheraton Hotel at 7pm.
