Candidates for Engineering Representative

Jacob Henner, 2016

UA Engineering Representative

My name is Jacob Henner, I am a Junior studying computer science, and I am running to once again serve as an Engineering Representative on the Undergraduate Assembly. I truly believe that Penn's UA has the ability to influence great change at the University, and support much needed reform. Over the last year, I've worked on the academic affairs committee, meeting with administrators and campus leaders to promote transparency, permit anonymous CAPS visits, allow freshman to take first semester courses pass/fail, and publicize Canvas's data collection policies. Additionally, as a member of the UA budget committee, I've worked with Penn's student groups to better understand their financial needs, and allocate resources accordingly. It is my hope to continue pursuing these, and similar efforts, throughout the upcoming year. I appreciate your support, and I look forward to having an ongoing opportunity to enhance the student experience at Penn.

Kanishka Rao, 2018

UA Engineering Representative, 2018 Engineering Chair

My name is Kanishka Rao and I'm running to be the Class of 2018 Engineering Chair and an Undergraduate Assembly SEAS Representative.
My goal is to make the well-being and concerns of Engineering students a priority of the University of Pennsylvania, which I feel isn't happening right now. As a dual-degree student in Wharton as well, I see the time and resources dedicated to brightening the lives of Wharton students. From the cohort system to all the events, I feel Wharton students tend to take priority in the eyes of the university. I want to change that, and bring your issues -- the Engineering students of Penn -- to the top of the university priority queue.
We tend to be separated by major in a way different from the rest of the university, and having more engineering-wide, large-scale events would bring us together as a school. Thank you!
