Candidates for SEAS Chair

Chloé le Comte, 2016

2016 Engineering Chair

Hi, my name is Chloé le Comte, and I am running for reelection for Class Board Engineering Chair 2016. For the past three years, I have really enjoyed being on Class Board and getting to know my Class Board family. Class Board has been a great outlet for me to be creative and think in different ways than from how I think in my engineering classes. Organization and collaboration are two skills I am always working on, and these are two key elements to working on Class Board as I have found out in planning events with my 2016 team. I hope to continue representing my class as Engineering Chair 2016 and working to plan fun events like Feb Club for senior year!

Pele Collins, 2017

2017 Engineering Chair

To the SEAS Class of 2017, the true backbone of this great University. My name is Pele Collins and I would like to be your SEAS Class Board Chair. I believe that my eccentric personality and passionate South African accent will make sure that all of your concerns are heard and dealt with promptly. We have many classic traditions to uphold this coming year including Hey Day and hopefully start some exciting ones of our own, engraving our legacy as a class. I have many ideas for events, but open to all of your suggestions, because even us engineers need to go out sometimes. Although I don't know all of you yet, I look forward to meeting you and can always be found in the engineering building, literally, always. Please come out and vote and remember, if you want to run with the lions, you can’t piss like a kitten.

Kanishka Rao, 2018

2018 Engineering Chair, UA Engineering Rep

My name is Kanishka Rao and I'm running to be the Class of 2018 Engineering Chair and an Undergraduate Assembly SEAS Representative.
My goal is to make the well-being and concerns of Engineering students a priority of the University of Pennsylvania, which I feel isn't happening right now. As a dual-degree student in Wharton as well, I see the time and resources dedicated to brightening the lives of Wharton students. From the cohort system to all the events, I feel Wharton students tend to take priority in the eyes of the university. I want to change that, and bring your issues -- the Engineering students of Penn -- to the top of the university priority queue.
We tend to be separated by major in a way different from the rest of the university, and having more engineering-wide, large-scale events would bring us together as a school. Thank you!

Rosalind Shinkle, 2018

2018 Engineering Chair

Sup Enginerds.

I'm Ros and I spend way too much time in Towne 205. I'd love to represent our people on the class board next year. I'm a member of multiple SEAS society-based organizations, but I'd like to take my focus on building the sense of community to the level of student government. I feel passionately about strengthening the engineering community within the university, while also ensuring that that university-wide activities actively involve our students. I've checked out some of the events that other class chairs have organized (Wharton sophomores night at Distrito?) and am so excited about the possibilities for next year. I have past experience in student government, and feel comfortable voicing my opinion--one which will represent our SEAS class--in any group or setting, no matter how large or intimidating. Remember, people: the physics may be theoretical, but the fun is real.
