“Last night, as the complainant was walking down around 40th and Chestnut, the suspect was running up 40th Street and took out a firearm and discharged it randomly,” Vice President for the Division of Public Safety Kathleen Shields Anderson told The Daily Pennsylvanian at around 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. “Philadelphia Police were instantly there and able to get the victim to the hospital quickly.”
Anderson added that police recovered a “firearm” and “narcotics believed for personal use” from the suspect after he was apprehended.
She clarified that the victim is not “affiliated with the University” and confirmed that they are “receiving treatment.”
