Person shot near 40th and Sansom streets, Penn Police say

A person was shot near 40th and Sansom streets on Saturday evening, a UPennAlert issued by the Division of Public Safety said. 

According to the 11:04 p.m. alert, both Penn Police and the Philadelphia Police Department responded to reports of the shooting. As of 12:02 a.m. on Sunday, Penn Police said the area was “all clear.” 

“Upon arrival police discovered a person had been shot and transported them for medical treatment,” the 11:04 p.m. statement read.

“The suspect was identified and immediately taken into custody,” the statement continued. 

Requests for comment were left with the Philadelphia Police Department and the Division of Public Safety.
