This story is developing and will continue to be updated.

Penn men’s basketball senior guard/forward Ethan Roberts, the team’s leading scorer this season, will miss the Ivy League tournament with a concussion.

Roberts’ designation was shared by coach Fran McCaffery on Friday. The Quakers face off with Harvard in the league semifinals on Saturday at 2 p.m.

“We feel for Ethan,” McCaffery said in the Ivy Madness men’s shootaround press conference on March 13. “We know he’s really struggling right now.”

Roberts reportedly suffered the injury during a practice in recent days. He is not expected to recover should Penn advance to any additional postseason games, such as the NCAA tournament or the National Invitation Tournament.

Roberts also sustained a concussion earlier in the season during Penn’s loss to Villanova in the Big 5 Classic on Dec. 7, 2025. He missed the following four games before returning to the court for the Quakers’ Ivy League season opener at Princeton on Jan. 5.

In the immediate aftermath of his first concussion, Roberts described significant coordination issues including difficulty walking in a straight line.

”It’s new, and it’s recurring,” McCaffery said of Roberts’ injury.

This season, Roberts was named second team All-Ivy after averaging 16.9 points per game.
