Princeton using own sexual assault survey to comply with Title IX

Princeton decided not to use a sexual assault survey designed by the Association of American Universities to comply with Title IX and will instead design one of its own.

The survey will be administered later this semester and will be designed similarly to a survey done by Rutgers, according to the Daily Princetonian report.

Princeton decided to go with an independent survey in large part because of the customization and timeline it provided, as Vice Provost for Institutional Equity and Diversity Michele Minter explained to the Daily Princetonian.

“An independent survey meant we would be able to go ahead with that planning quite quickly. [The AAU survey] was made by good researchers, but there hasn’t been enough information to determine whether it would allow for customization and other things we were concerned about … We want to be able to use this information to help the campus and all of the activities we do in this space.”
