Upon returning to their schools from studying abroad, students are facing "reverse culture shock," USA TODAY College reports.
Though schools put a lot of time into preparing students for the culture shocks they will experience while living in another country, they do little to ease their transition back to American schools.
Emory University student Harlan Cutshall explains that after returning from abroad, regular college activities he once did now felt dull. "There's less stimulation deciding between whether you're going to go to Paris or Madrid over the weekend and whether or not you're going to go out or lay in bed all weekend long," Cutshall said.
Washington University in St. Louis student Alex Anhalt added he felt he was "in a video game" upon returning from studying abroad in Prague. Despite the culture shock, however, Anhalt says he encourages everyone to study abroad.
