Philadelphia school district budget cuts affect students, hurts teachers' pension funds

The School District of Philadelphia has seen various budget cuts that have affected teachers, students and parents alike. 

Following budget cuts, the district — the eighth largest in the nation — has had to take measures that include having teachers contribute to their health insurance and having parents pay for paper to be used in the schools.  

With an impending $71 million deficit, the school district should expect additional budget cuts in the next academic year.
