Increasing number of college students avoid flu shot

More and more college students are electing not to get the flu vaccine.

Janet Yang, a professor at the University of Buffalo said that in a recent year, only about 8 percent of college students have been vaccinated. According to Yang, college students are increasingly choosing not to get the vaccination because of "unwarranted optimism" about their health — college students do not think they are susceptible to the flu.

Incentives to get students to get vaccinated include offering them money to get the vaccines, but the measure is too costly.
