University President Amy Gutmann will receive a leadership award from the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania on March 3 at the organization's 22nd annual Take the Lead awards ceremony.
Gutmann will be honored for being a leader in higher education and stressing the importance of access to education for students from all academic backgrounds, according to a GSEP press release.
Philadelphia First Lady Lisa Nutter will also receive an award. Nutter is the president of Philadelphia Academies Inc., a non-profit organization that works in Philadelphia high schools to provide career-based learning experiences and motivate youth to stay in school.
"For the important role they play in shaping our city, the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania are proud to recognize their achievements and introduce them to our Girl Scouts, who will certainly be our female leaders of tomorrow," GSEP CEO Ann Meredith said in the press release.
The ceremony will take place at the Philadelphia Four Seasons Hotel.
