Attempted Escape
June 8 -- A prisoner at the University of Pennsylvania Police Department headquarters at 4040 Chestnut St. kicked the door handle off of a door at approximately 4:46 p.m.
Fraud
June 7 -- A female unaffiliated with the University was arrested after she attempted to pass a bad check worth $565 at about 1:24 p.m. at the Commerce Bank location at 3731 Walnut St.
Robbery and Narcotics
June 8 -- A female unaffiliated with the University was approached by a male, who threatened her with a silver handgun and demanded her pocketbook at about 1:03 p.m. on the 4200 block of Spruce St. University Police responded and arrested the suspect immediately. The suspect was also charged with possession of crack cocaine later in the day at about 8:41 p.m.
Theft
June 3-7 -- An unknown person took two paint sprayers, worth a combined total of about $1,800, from the construction site at the Franklin Building Annex at 125 S. 36th St. In a similar incident, a coffee pot and a microwave, together worth about $180, were taken over the same time period from a different office at the site.
June 6 -- An unknown person removed approximately 3,000 lbs. of copper flashing worth about $20,000 from the construction site surrounding the University Museum at 3200 South St. The incident was reported at about 6:45 a.m.
n June 6 -- An unknown person forced entry into a residential building at 4028 Spruce St. at approximately 12:31 p.m. and removed numerous unnamed items.
June 4 -- A female employee of the Penn Bookstore was arrested for under-ringing the register, costing the store $340 at about 6:37 p.m. at 3601 Walnut St.
