To the Medical School for exploring ways to better prepare the school for the future such as purchasing the Civic Center and setting up a Penn Health plan. To the University Police for their handling of the situation in People's Park on 40th and Walnut Streets. They showed an equal respect for human dignity and the law. To Interim President Claire Fagin for trying to be more than a caretaker. To the Board of Trustees for rebuking Fagin for her decision not to take action against those responsible for the DP confiscation. To Vice Provost for University Life Kim Morrisson for agreeing on her "transfer" out of the VPUL job. It was the best thing for her department and for student life. To the Philadelphia Phillies. Their rough style and winning ways brought back a pride in Philadelphia felt even in our Ivory Tower. To the Board of Trustees for selecting College of Women alumna and Yale Provost Judith Rodin as the next president. To the Penn Women's Center for celebrating its 20th anniversary. To 34th Street magazine for celebrating its 25th. To Rodin for saying that she supports Yale's Woodward Report which states that free expression is a value to be cherished above all others at an university. To the First Amendment Task Force and Human Rights League for both organizing students to participate in the ongoing debate on free speech on campus. To Resnet for bringing the University a little bit of cyberspace into all of our lives.
