The search for a new director of police and security patrol services is nearing its end, University Police Commissioner John Kuprevich said last night. Kuprevich said University community members will participate in the second round of interviews. The interviews will be limited to about five candidates and should be completed early next week. The new director of police and security patrol services will be responsible for police patrols, shift assignments and incident investigations, among other things. The director will report directly to Kuprevich. Last January, then-Director of Public Services John Logan left the University in a cloud of secrecy. Kuprevich said, however, the delay in advertising the position was caused by internal reorganization. "It's not that I didn't want to hire [a new director]," he said. "I was holding off while we were looking at restructuring and so forth." -- Gregory Thomas
