"I'm happy to be getting all this recognition," Mangione said yesterday. "It makes me feel as if all my work has been worthwhile." Mangione was awarded the Christopher Columbus Quincentenary Award from Governor Cuomo last October. Beginning last November, a three month-long exhibit honored his contributions to literature in the Library of Congress.
