To the Editor: I know that swearing is so pervasive in our society today that you really might not think about the words you use and the people around you who hear them, listen to them and are offended by them everyday. Believe it or not, there are still people -- on Penn's campus even! -- who think that swearing is offensive. Regardless of whether or not you think it is offensive, please be aware that there are others around you who do. Take half a second before you decide to speak and think about the words you are going to use. There are definitely words in our language to express your frustration, anger and annoyance without swearing. Believe it or not, you can still get your point across, too! JENNIFER MILLER Nursing '93
