To the Editor: We also share the view that there is room in the sexual minority community at Penn for many organizations. Unfortunately, The Daily Pennsylvanian's article "LGBA Criticizes Radical 'Queers'" (DP 10/23/92) makes it abundantly clear that there is a great deal of work facing all campus sexual minority organizations and their allies. This article appears to be a deliberate attempt to exaggerate and sensationalize the differences in purposes and tactics of campus sexual minority organizations and to drive a wedge between them. Our official organizational statements were used selectively and the quotes from the two organization members -- John Young of QUIP and Jim Walsh of the LGBA -- were chosen, edited and used out of context by the DP to suit its perspective. To make matters worse, the editorial staff chose a headline for the article which served to reinforce the DP's mistaken premise. We would like to get on with the work of our organizations and not have to spend precious time writing to the DP about the coverage of our efforts. We do not need another enemy -- we need your support. DAREN WADE Graduate Student School of Social Work Member, QUIP JASON WALTHALL Wharton '93 Co-Chairperson, LGBA
