The problem isn't that they blink, though. The problem is that with these funky traffic lights, sometimes green means go. Sometimes yellow does. And sometimes even red does. In the process, they have confused and bemused the thousands of motorists and pedestrians that pass though the intersection each week. For example, sometimes the lights sensibly go from green-to-yellow-to-red, stopping the onslaught of traffic along Walnut Street. But then every light in the intersection simply remains red for about 30 seconds. Consequently, drivers and pedestrians trying to cross Walnut Street get a wee bit confused. Some enter the intersection tentatively. Others make a dash for it. Hopefully, everyone is out of the way when the westbound lights magically turn green again. Those rush-hour drivers on Walnut Street are sometimes pretty impatient. Nobody's been hurt, so far.
