The Daily Pennsylvanian

COLUMN: "Adios!"

From Bruce Forman's "Shaking The Tree," Spring '92. Finally, I am spending my last Sunday night slogging through writing another column. I've enjoyed writing -- if nothing else, it has furthered my capacity to b.s. But this should have already been apparent. Today, I just want to share a few final random remarks. · I am happy to see that bikes on Locust Walk -- rather than fraternities on Locust Walk -- have become President Hackney's new focus. What next? Maybe declarations on frisbees and dog shit on College Green. · For a campus as diverse -- I love this word -- as ours, the editorial page of The Daily Pennsylvanian does not reflect the breadth or the depth of ideas and experiences present here. There is no reason why I need to be given seven chances to express my views. If I had fewer chances to write, I probably would have put more thought into the columns, instead of focusing on underage drinking so much. Besides, there are so many talented and involved students here who should be given an opportunity to share their experiences and educate the community. Increasing the number of voices would add a freshness to the editorial page which it is currently missing. It would also be nice if the editorial page sparked constructive debate on complex issues. Unfortunately, it takes ridiculous statements to arouse responses. · Congratulations to the fraternities which had the courage to throw parties this past Spring Fling. Their boldness and brilliance to see past the LCE paranoia will go far to preserve the social life on this campus. Now, if only the people at Smoke's would loosen up a little. · After spending this past weekend on campus, I am glad there aren't more religious holidays during the school year. · I've had enough ink this semester. See ya! · Bruce Forman is really a mild-mannered, politically correct independent. He is also a junior Finance major considering a switch to a sculpture concentration in the School of Fine Arts, from the thriving metropolis of East Greenwich, Rhode Island. Shaking the Tree appeared alternate Mondays.
