The event, which has been virtual since 2019 due to COVID-19, was held starting 5 p.m. in the Graduate School of Education tent and featured a rally followed by a survivors' vigil.

Saturday's events included opening remarks from School of Arts & Sciences Dean Steven Fluharty, a keynote speech by author Cathy Park Hong, alumni panels, and performances from student groups.

Almost 20% of undergraduate students benefit from the Penn First Plus program, which was launched in 2018 by President Amy Gutmann.

Temple senior Samuel Sean Collington, who was set to graduate in the spring, suffered fatal gunshot wounds during an attempted robbery near the North Philadelphia campus.

The grant will aid 40 students coming from underrepresented backgrounds over the course of five years who are enrolled in five genetic counseling programs across the country.

DAB organized the event, which was held in New College House West, to provide guidance on balancing the pressures Penn students face and building a supportive network of friends. 

From Old City to the Gayborhood, College Houses are giving students the opportunity to explore different parts of Philadelphia with their hallmates during their first in-person semester at Penn.
